Canola oil is a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). These PUFAs include 21%Trusted Source linoleic acid, or omega-6 fatty acid, and 11% alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is an omega-3 fatty acid.
Avocado oil is oil pressed from the avocado fruit. Its mild taste and high smoke point make it a popular cooking oil, but you can also consume it raw. Avocado oil is very similar to olive oil in terms of utility and nutritional value. Like extra virgin olive oil, cold-pressed avocado oil is unrefined and retains some of the flavor and color of the fruit, leaving it greenish in color.
Coconut oil is a plant-based fat derived from the meat of coconuts. Due to its high amounts of saturated fat, its claim to fame is that it is one of the only plant-based oils that is solid at room temperature. Many people enjoy its neutral, somewhat sweet flavor as well as the crispy texture it can add to cooked foods. In recent years, coconut oil has become extremely trendy.
Corn oil is 100% fat and provides 122 calories per tablespoon (15 ml). It’s mostly made of polyunsaturated omega-6 fats and contains some vitamin E.
Soybean oil is a vegetable oil that’s extracted from the seeds of the soybean plant. Between 2018 and 2019, around 62 million tons (56 million metric tons) of soybean oil were produced around the globe, making it one of the most common cooking oils available.
Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp of the fruit of the oil palms. The oil is used in food manufacturing, in beauty products, and as biofuel. Palm oil accounted for about 33% of global oils produced from oil crops in 2014.
Sunflower oil is the non-volatile oil pressed from the seeds of the sunflower. Sunflower oil is commonly used in food as a frying oil, and in cosmetic formulations as an emollient. Sunflower oil is primarily composed of linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated fat, and oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat.
